On February 17, 2007, Conor McGregor made his MMA debut in Dublin. It was an amateur fight against Kieran Campbell, in which McGregor won. The following year, he began training under John Cavani at the Straight Blast Gym. He is left-handed and uses appropriate tactics, although he uses conventional positions. As a professional MMA fighter, Conor McGregor made his debut on March 8, 2008 in a fight organized by London promoter Cage Warriors, defeating Harry Morris by technical knockout. He then beat up Mo Taylor. He lost two of his first six fights before starting his impressive featherweight and lightweight winning streaks. Although he lost his bantamweight debut against Artemy Sitenkov, he won his next fight against Stephen Bale. He also defeated Conor Dillon before returning to lightweight to fight Joseph Duffy but losing the bout. Between 2011 and 2012, he won the CWFC featherweight and lightweight championships, making him the first professional European MMA fighter to hold titles in both divisions at the same time.

In February 2013, the UFC signed a contract with Conor. On April 6 of the same year, he made his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage. He won the fight, earning him his first Knockout of the Night award. McGregor finished this debut fight with a knockout victory in the first round. The winning streak continued in July 2015 when he defeated Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title. In December, he knocked out Jose Aldo in a record 13 seconds. After that, he announced that he will compete in both divisions (featherweight and lightweight) while maintaining his championship status. A fight with Nurmagomedov

MMA fighter Dillon Danis from Conor’s team provoked a fight: first Khabib jumped into the hall, then members of Nurmagomedov’s team attacked McGregor. As a result, three Russians were taken to the police station. McGregor later tweeted that he was looking for a rematch.
